Origin of the Report

This report has been prepared after successfully completed three months of internship program in the Shyamli branch of Premier Bank PLC. The report has been submitted to analyze the overall activities of different departments of Premier Bank PLC with permission of the program director and highlight the possible aspects of the future development of the bank.

The report is titled “General Banking Activities of Premier Bank PLC”. It has presented in detail the general banking activities, service standards, market expansion strategies and developmental initiatives.

Objectives of the Study

Primary Objective

The main purpose of this report is to meet the working environment of Premier Bank PLC and meet theoretical knowledge acquired from the curriculum of BBA program through real application in a specific case. This has led to connections between student’s academic knowledge and practical experience.

  • The duration of internship was limited to data collection opportunities as only three months.
  • Collecting deep and detailed information about the bank was relatively difficult.
  • Officers of Premier Bank PLC could not give enough time to negotiate as they were busy in their respective responsibilities.
  • There was a shortage of information needed for research.

Overview of Premier Bank PLC

Premier Bank PLC is a private commercial bank in Bangladesh. After receiving a license of Bangladesh Bank, the bank started operations on 10 June 1999. The head office of the bank is located in the Banani area of Dhaka at 42 Kemal Ataturk Avenue. Since the beginning, the bank has continuously improved by providing customer-centric financial services.

Currently, the Premier Bank is operating a wide range of networks across the country. The bank has about 136 branches, 67 subtitles and about 130 ATM booths. At the time of internship it was a great opportunity for me to know how to work there in reality. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain experience & knowledge through practical. I’ve learned a lot in these three months. It is an important experience of getting ideas about banking system, its general activities and the work of different departments. However, I think that Bangkok needs to improve their market expansion activities in some specific sectors. Described in detail below.

  • Improve Products and Service: Premier Bank must improve and effectively improve their products and services so that customers get more benefits.
  • Improve the online banking sector: Their online banking system should be more effective. Because there are limited benefits online now.
  • Tell the customer about the banking process: Many customers don’t know about the bank process. Customers may differ, as some are educated while others are uneducated. So bankers should inform customers in detail about all the processes of the bank.
  • Collection of competitors’ information: It’s important to know what other banks are doing. Because if there is advantage in another bank, the customer will go there. So it is necessary to know about the competitor bank’s activities.
  • Employee training increase: Employees should be given more training in the banking sector for personal improvement. There are many new features that they don’t know. So employee training is important.
  • Not only sell banking products, but also sell brand: Not only sell products is important, branding is also important. If the customer knows about the brand, it will be interested in connecting with the bank.
  • High quality market integrity promotion: which products should be promoted more competitive. This will allow customers to understand the difference in the bank’s products.
  • Improve credit and debit card benefits: Premier Bank card benefits are lower than other banks. Sometimes the card is stuck on the booth. So it should be improved.
  • Opening Customer More ATM Booth: Customers are disadvantages due to some ATM booths in the current. So more own ATM booth should be opened.
  • Locker service safely operate: Many customers seek locker service at the customer service center. Premier Bank must provide this service. It will also attract other bank customers.

Conclusions

The purpose of conclusion internship is to create bridges between theoretical knowledge and real experience as part of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. This report is the result of three months internship of Premier Bank PLC.

The main focus of the report is the general banking process of deposit, bill and clearing department of the banking department. As a student of marketing department, understanding the process of banking is important for me. This report helped me understand the activities of Banking Service and General Banking Department.

This experience will also help my professional development in the future. Although Premier Bank PLC. One of the most prospective banks of Bangladesh, it has been successfully operating the business for a long time. Within a limited time, the bank has created good position in the banking sector and has gained a strong reputation and loyalty to the customer through providing excellent service.
